About Me
Wife and mom of 2 teens. My husband and I have been running our own business for the past 10 years. I'm the current president of our local chamber of commerce and am quite involved in our local business community. I grew up in a HoH family and had progressive hearing loss (hearing aids from age 15) up to the point where I went suddenly deaf in my right ear in 2016 and my left ear in early 2017. I love to share my experiences with others and have a blog that you're welcome to check out at http://2earsarebetterthan1.wordpress.com.

Mentor Information
My favorite thing about my AB Cochlear implant is
So many things that I love about AB, it's hard to choose just one. I would have to say the T-mic.
My favorite sound is
Music, hearing the birds & frogs in the summer, my kids' laughter.
I chose AB because
In my research, I saw that the AB implant offered the very best chances of enjoying music again and having as close to "natural" hearing.
I am a BEA Mentor because
I've experienced the darkness and despair of being completely deaf, the struggle of living in a hearing world without sound and I know what it's like. My AB "ears" have given me my life back in a way that I never even dreamed possible. I just want everyone to have that same chance.
I can help cochlear implant candidates by
Being completely open and honest about the process. Sharing my experiences, helping with rehab, providing support and encouragement.
