- Implanted AgeMiddle-aged AdultHearing LossSlowly ProgressiveImplantedLeftI'm a late 40's IT professional working for a global IT services company who was implanted with a CI in 2005. Having lived with hearing loss since I was 4 years old (when I contracted Meningitis) - which got progressively worse as I entered my adult years - I eventually decided to take the plunge with a CI and haven't looked back!
- Implanted AgeMiddle-aged AdultHearing LossSince BirthImplantedLeftI'm a mother to 4 kids, all hearing. I was born deaf and my hearing gradually worsened over my life until I was no longer coping as well. I'm lucky enough to live on a small island in Orkney. I was implanted in my "good"ear in 2013, at Crosshouse Hospital in Scotland and my life brightened back to full colour again.
(I am able to pursue my dream of raising bilingual children as I watch my two sons speak Spanish and English with ease. What visions I have of the endless doors of possibility they have ahead, thanks to their life with a CI. )
