About Me

Started loosing my hearing in late 30's and was fitted with hearings aids in 1995. I was a customer service agent spending 8 hours a day on phone and struggling until I retired in 2005. Still struggled with phone and noisy situations and could not hear all of what the minister said at church. I was implanted in the left ear in September of 2013 and my hearing got so much better I had the right ear implanted in April of 2015.

Mentor Information

My favorite thing about my AB Cochlear implant is
T-mic, Roger Pen, Com-Pilot, TV streamer. I am an electronics junkie but each of the above help in my hearing journey. Even though I can talk on the cell phone without their help both the Roger Pen and the Com-Pilot offer great assistance.
With my AB cochlear implant, I can
Hear at Church, understand my wife in the car, listen to TV at the volume I want and others can enjoy at their level. In general it allows me the freedom of great hearing.
My favorite sound is
The birds
I chose AB because

I am a BEA Mentor because
I believe in the product and the Customer Service from AB. I also believe in the idea that if technology exist to improve quality of life we should take advantage of it.
I can help cochlear implant candidates by
My wife and I are both bi-lateral implant recipients and can offer our experiences and successes to help someone make the choice to be implanted. Granted it is a big step but worth the few days of discomfort.
