I am Girish Jamdar father  of Karunya Jamdar  who is bilateral  CI implantee. She has undergone  her 1st CI for right ear  in May 2015 and second CI in April 2016.earlier she has used Harmony  and April 2016 onwards she is using Nada Q 70 which was upgraded to Q 90 in September 1st week. She has shown very good progress  in her speech in this 2yrs.

About Me

I am the proud father of Karunya who is a bilateral implantee. We came to know that she has severe-to-profound hearing loss in both ears when she was 15 months old. We decided to go for the first CI in 2014 for the right ear after observing poor response on using Behind-The-Ear hearing aids. She first got her harmony and carried on very well, showing good progress, hence our Audiologist suggested for a second Implant which was done in April 2016. We further upgraded it to Q90 for both years. Now, she is attending a preschool past last one and a half years and her progress has been very good. She can speak in long sentences, is very talkative in fact, loves music, dance and painting.

Mentor Information

My favorite thing about my AB Cochlear implant is
It is handy and gives proper indication regarding the status of the battery and the processor connection with the implant. Whenever one does not need the processor, it can be easily removed from the ear. Also with the Q series processor, it has opened doors for using the latest technologies like Bluetooth for various applications like mobile, T.V., etc.
With my AB cochlear implant, I can
Listen to the whole world and not feel deprived from listening to the nature's sound.
My favorite sound is
When my daughter narrates her day in school. It is really exciting and amazing to hear it from her!
I chose AB because
After deciding for a CI, we tried to gather as much information as possible from the Audiologist, met with people who had undergone a CI surgery and learnt about their experiences with various processors and brands. The major positive aspect which influenced us in selecting AB was that it had zero failures, at least in our region.
I am a BEA Mentor because
I want to share my experience and motivate people for a CI as it gives a lifetime boon to a child and can change his/her life forever.
I can help cochlear implant candidates by
Having one-to-one meeting personally or converse over the telephone. I can guide them to the required path and avoid mistakes that we have done.
