Hi Everyone I’m a mentor in Australia here is my story published in a magazine recently
About Me
Hi. I’ve had a journey with hearing loss over the past 10 years or so. Along with many of us on this journey I buried my head in the sand until one day I could not hear one of my grand sons, who wanted to tell me about his exciting day at school. This was my wake up call that I needed to do something or I would miss out on these and many other moments. In October of 2017 I was implanted with an AB Cochlear in my left ear and shortly after I received a Phonak hearing aid for my right ear. I’m extremely happy and blessed with this combination that has given me my life back. I can talk and hear on the phone, and I’m always pushing myself out of my comfort zone to develop better results. Our family are musical performers and to be able to hear and enjoy their performances is a huge WHY for me.

Mentor Information
My favorite thing about my AB Cochlear implant is
Where do I start. There is no one favourite thing really. If I must pick one it would be being able to communicate with my family by phone.
With my AB cochlear implant, I can
Get on my life as I did before my hearing loss.
My favorite sound is
All sound. As soon as I wake in the morning I put my hearing devices on and don’t come off again until I go to bed at night. (Except for when I shower).
I chose AB because
AB was the best solution for me. It was as recommended by both my Surgeon and my Audiologist.
I am a BEA Mentor because
I’m a people person and if I can help people by sharing my experiences, then why not!
I can help cochlear implant candidates by
Caring and sharing my journey.
