About Me
I have been profoundly Deaf since birth and received my first Advanced Bionics cochlear implant at age five in 1998. I was one of the early recipients of the Clarion 1.0 implant and used it for 27 years before undergoing revision surgery on January 2, 2026. I now use the HiRes Ultra 3D implant with the Naída CI Marvel sound processor, and I’m excited to explore new sounds and technologies as I continue practicing and relearning.
Although my cochlear implant has had a positive impact on my life, I remain proudly Deaf and embrace Deaf culture and my identity. I am fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) and value my connections to both the Deaf and hearing worlds. I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, and using Bluetooth technology to connect with my devices.
As an Advanced Bionics Community Mentor, I want to share my honest, personal experiences to help others feel supported and confident in their cochlear implant journeys. My goal is to listen without judgment, answer questions honestly, and encourage others to discover what works best for them. I believe in meeting people where they are, building confidence, and reminding them that they are not alone. I am here for you, I believe in you, and we will figure it out together!

My favorite thing about my AB Cochlear implant is
My favorite thing about my Advanced Bionics cochlear implant is the Bluetooth technology that lets me connect to my phone, TV, and other devices. I love listening to music, watching movies, and hearing the sounds around me. I am still discovering and relearning new sounds, and I am excited to keep exploring all the possibilities!
I chose AB because
I chose Advanced Bionics because my parents researched cochlear implants when I was young and felt AB was the best fit for me. I received my first AB implant at age five and have been part of the AB family ever since! After 27 years with my original Clarion 1.0 implant, I recently underwent revision surgery and upgraded to the HiRes Ultra 3D implant with the Naída CI Marvel sound processor. I am excited about the new technology and grateful to continue my journey with Advanced Bionics.
