My loss was slowly progressive and I had even given up on hearing aids for almost 5 years when I got my first cochlear implant in August of 1997. I went bilateral in November of 2008 and couldn't believe the difference. Today I spend a great deal of time mentoring and advocating for others with hearing loss in my community and participate in multiple volunteer activities.

I was implanted in 2016 (at age 74) with an Advanced Bionic Q90 Cochlear Implant (CI) for my right ear (upgraded to Marvel CI in Oct. 2021) in which I experienced a sudden severe hearing loss. I also use a Phonak Link hearing aid (HA) for my left ear, in which I have normal "age-related" hearing loss. By profession, I am a PhD nuclear engineer (retired).

He had his cochlear implant on the right ear in 2010 and we as parents put in lot of effort initially until my son, his implant & time did rest of the magic!! And this Magic Continues…
