Mentor Information

My favorite thing about my AB Cochlear implant is
It enhances my ability to understand speech although I still have to lipread and I still rely upon sign language interpreters for large meetings.
With my AB cochlear implant, I can
Enjoy music, bird songs, and waterfalls. None of this was possible with hearing aids.
My favorite sound is
Bird songs
I chose AB because
I liked their philosophy of providing the full range of auditory information.
I am a BEA Mentor because
I want to share the experiences of my journey.
I can help cochlear implant candidates by
Giving them the perspective of how you can use a variety of different communication tools (CI, sign language, lipreading) in different situations. You don't need to abandon one communication tool in order to use a new one.
