About Me

I developed menieres disease and started losing my hearing in my left ear at 21, then in my right ear a decade later. By the age of 40, I was really struggling to live life due to my hearing loss. I received an AB cochlear implant for my right ear and a Phonak Link hearing aid for my left ear in 2018. Life is SO much easier now!

Mentor Information

My favorite thing about my AB Cochlear implant is
that I can now take part in things that were too hard to do with a profound hearing loss.
With my AB cochlear implant, I can
go to movies, have dinner out with friends, attend lectures, work, volunteer... live life!
My favorite sound is
the chatter around the dinner table with my family.
I chose AB because
my audiologist recommended it to me. It's the best choice for me as I needed a cochlear implant and a hearing aid.
I am a BEA Mentor because
I hope that I can help others. Speaking to an AB cochlear implant recipient was a big comfort prior to my surgery.
I can help cochlear implant candidates by
sharing my story and experiences and hopefully help answering any questions.
