Mission Statement
The Online Community and The Listening Room at HearingJourney.com is sponsored by Advanced Bionics to provide cochlear implant candidates and their loved ones accurate, timely, and reliable educational information about hearing loss, cochlear implants, the Advanced Bionics HiResolution Bionic Ear System, and rehabilitation materials. In keeping with our commitment to a lifetime partnership, the Online Community exists to provide a warm, supportive, and nurturing community for all users of Advanced Bionics cochlear implants. The Listening Room provides activities and resources to support the development of oral language and listening skills to children and adults with hearing loss.

Registration Information
To access the Online Community or The Listening Room, you must register as a member. This registration is free of charge. By registering, you agree to abide by the Guidelines for HearingJourney.com.

1) When you register, you must choose a unique user name or "handle" and you must provide a unique, valid e-mail address. Duplicate user names and e-mail addresses are not allowed, so if the name or address you enter is already in use, you will be prompted to choose another one.

2) To prevent any member from using another user's handle, each member's account is password protected with e-mail verification. Once you have received your password, you may edit your profile to change it to one of your choice. You may also change the e-mail address in your profile. Entering an invalid e-mail address will cause your user name to become unusable by anyone, INCLUDING YOURSELF, until the information in your account is manually corrected by a moderator or administrator.

3) The Online Community, at its own discretion, may bar registration from any specific e-mail service or ISP.

4) Any message posted on our Online Community expresses only the views of the author of the message and does not necessarily reflect the views of Advanced Bionics or any person or entity associated with Advanced Bionics. The Online Community uses moderators and administrators to monitor the content and appearance of messages posted in our forums. However, considering the real-time nature of this forum, there may be some delay in the content review by the moderators and administrators. Therefore, you agree that neither Advanced Bionics nor any person or entity associated with Advanced Bionics, will be held responsible for the contents, accuracy, completeness or validity of any information posted in the Online Community.

Be Friendly and Positive
• This site is about helping people reach their maximum individual hearing potential. So, help each other through friendly and positive reinforcement. You agree that you will not use our Online Community to post any material, or links to any material, which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of any law.
• Keep in mind that typed word is ambiguous and often seems ruder than the same words coming from a person standing in front of you. Irony isn't always obvious - text comes without facial expressions or body language. Be careful of the words you choose - what you intended might not be what others perceive, and what you read might not be what the author intended.

No Medical Advice
• While you may have similar experiences, diagnosis or hearing loss as others, everyone's situation is unique. Dispensing medical advice on this site is strictly prohibited. Only a medical professional can provide medical advice and should not do so through this site.
Physician and Health Care Organizations Names
• To ensure the integrity of medical professionals and health care organizations, please refrain from using health care professionals' names and health care organizations' names on forums. Instead, please use "my doctor", "my audiologist" or "a health care company" or "hospital" when referencing medical professionals and organizations.
Opinions
• Opinions and experiences posted by site users are their own and are not approved or endorsed by Advanced Bionics.

No Suggestions of Improper Product Use
• Please note that Advanced Bionics products should be used as directed in the User Guides provided with the products. Any misuse of Advanced Bionics products, or attempts to repair, maintain or modify the equipment by the recipient may void the warranty. Advanced Bionics has the right to remove any suggestions posted on this site to use the products in a manner not authorized by Advanced Bionics, or in conflict with any User Guide instructions.

No Brand Wars or Promotion of Competing Cochlear Implant Manufacturers
• To ensure an atmosphere free of "brand wars" we do not allow promotion of non-Advanced Bionics cochlear implants in posts, photos, or signature files. Users of other manufacturer's cochlear implants may wish to contact those manufacturers for a list of online support groups or lists specific to their individual needs.

No Commercial Posts or Solicitation
• The purpose of this site is to provide a place to share accurate and reliable educational information about hearing loss and cochlear implants. As such, posts containing commercial content or solicitations are not permitted and Advanced Bionics has the right to remove these posts. This extends to individuals seeking donations of any kind, attempting to sell or exchange products, and attempting to drive traffic to their own, non-Advanced Bionics-affiliated websites and/or commercial ventures.

Moderators
• The HearingJourney.com and the Listening Room moderators and those acting on behalf of the site have the right to edit or delete any posts that contain content that does not follow the guidelines listed above. We reserve the right to edit or delete any message for any reason whatsoever, at our sole discretion. Advanced Bionics has the right to remove and/or ban any user that does not follow the guidelines.
• We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to edit and/or remove posts perceived as objectionable by our members. Any user who believes that a posted message is objectionable is encouraged to contact us immediately by e-mail at hear@advancedbionics.com.
• Upon receipt of such notification, we will make every effort to take such action as we deem appropriate within a reasonable period of time. Since this is a manual process, you are advised that we may not be able to remove or edit particular messages immediately.

Copyright
All content posted to the Online Community becomes copyrighted material of Advanced Bionics. You agree that you will not post on this forum any copyrighted material without the express permission of the copyright holder, unless such copyright is owned by you. Advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are also not permitted on these forums.

Online Community and The Listening Room Disclaimer
You are entering Advanced Bionics Online Community where content is generated by its individual members and solely reflects the views and opinions of those members. For medical advice, consult your medical professional. Hearing Journey.com and the Listening Room does not and cannot validate whether an individual member who states he or she is a medical professional or audiologist is actually one or not. Always consult your own doctor or audiologist before making any changes to your medical or audiologic management.

Thank you for joining our Online Community!
